After more than 15 years in the electronic music scene, Belgian DJ and producer Thomas Sempels is turning the page and stepping into a bold new chapter under the name Semsei. Since 2008, he's been a familiar name in the industry. But like all artists, Thomas has grown, and so has his sound. The name Semsei draws inspiration from the Japanese word"Sensei", meaning teacher or mentor. It’s a nod not only to his artistic journey, but also to his role as the founder of Tomorrowland Academy, where he helps shape the next generation of DJs and producers
His first release under Semsei, launched just before summer 2025, garnered international attention and clearly defined the sonic direction of this new project. With standout performances at Tomorrowland, Tomorrowland Winter, and a string of club shows in recent months, Semsei is ready to make his mark. His first releases gained support from industry names such as Ame, Jonathan Kaspar, Notre Dame and many more... He released music on Sanctuary Music (the label of Samer Soltan)and Magnifik (from Samm & Ajna) and is building a name in the Beatport charts with his own imprint ‘Not What It Seems’
